Songs for the Journey: The Psalms of Ascent
Life with God is a journey. From the first cry of longing to the joy of worship, from the tears of sorrow to the blessing of peace, the Christian life is a pilgrimage with the Lord and His people on the way to His eternal kingdom. The Psalms of Ascent (Psalms 120–134) were sung by ancient pilgrims traveling up to Jerusalem for worship. They are a spiritual soundtrack for the road of faith — songs of hope, trust, humility, joy, and perseverance.
This 11-week study series explores each psalm as both ancient prayer and modern guide. Together we will discover how these songs shaped Israel’s journey and how they still speak to our lives today. With themes of spiritual growth, community, blessing, and worship, the Psalms of Ascent remind us that we are “foreigners and strangers on earth… looking for a country of our own” (Hebrews 11:13–14).
